Experiences Graduate Student Netbooks

Experiences: ; Experiences; Graduate Student Netbooks. By Junior from Colorado It seems to me that as I have transitioned into using my netbook, I have changed some of my usage habits.[1] In the past, when I went to the library to study, I would take my laptop with me.[2] But, because it is pretty big I have a 17" model , I have to use a large bag to carry it.[3] And, because it is a big heavy bag, I would decide to carry it with me only for times I really intend to use it for study.[4] Now that I have a netbook with about 6 hour battery life , I have more of a tendency to carry it with me more often and to more places than just the Library.[5] So, when I'm at the mall, sitting in the food court, I pull out mt netbook and check my email all the food courts around here have WiFi .[6] I only go to the school campus a couple of times per year, so I'm looking forward to classroom work ...

Experiences Cost Of Distance Learning Programs

Experiences: ; Experiences; Cost Of Distance Learning Programs. By Rodger Bailey, MS from Uruguay It is hard to pinpoint whether distance learning programs are less expensive than standard brick and mortar universities.[1] I have seen some distance learning programs with costs of about $500/credit hour, but that is the most I have encountered.[2] The school I'm attending has an equivalent cost of about half of that figure.[3] But, I also have travel costs, and the fees for the on-campus residencies.[4] I suspect that if I left my work and moved to be near a university at which I wanted to study, I would end up paying about the same for the actual coursework, but I would lose the stability factor of maintaining my current home and work.[5] If costs are the main factor for you to consider, then you should read the catalogs of various B and M and DL schools and get a better, more specific cost comparison. ...

On-Campus Residency Room-and-Board at Oxford Graduate School

All distance learning graduate programs have their own way of doing things.[1] At OGS, room-and-board is covered by two payments.[2] One payment is the fee for the one-week residency and another is by-the-day for the use of a local Holiday Inn Express.[3] The residency fee is a standard kind of fee every school will have, which covers all of the direct costs for your week of residency at the school.[4] Included in this fee at Oxford Graduate School is your lunch and dinner for the week.[5] At OGS, attendance at lunch and dinner is required for both students and faculty and is considered faculty advising time.[6] The cost of this could change, so I'll include a link to the Oxford Graduate School Catalog where the current fee can be found.[7] Search for "User-Pay Fees" and look at the line-item "Core ...
---Last comment Fri Jan 8 06:22:04 2010 by Kattrina:
Researching I am interested in finding out more about options for distance learning and reading about others experiences, good and bad. ...
