| Cost Of Distance Learning Programs It is hard to pinpoint whether distance learning programs are less expensive than standard brick and mortar universities. I have seen some distance learning programs with costs of about $500/credit hour, but that is the most I have encountered. The school I'm attending has an equivalent cost of about half of that figure. But, I also have travel costs, and the fees for the on-campus residencies. I suspect that if I left my work and moved to be near a university at which I wanted to study, I would end up paying about the same for the actual coursework, but I would lose the stability factor of maintaining my current home and work. If costs are the main factor for you to consider, then you should read the catalogs of various B&M and DL schools and get a better, more specific cost comparison. For me the big advantage in distance learning programs is that I get to keep my life and do the study and research that I want. |
